How do I convert M4A to MP3?
Introduction.
M4A is based on Apple's Quicktime container format and is a part of MPEG-4
standard. .m4a file extension is used for audio files. The format is pretty
popular, although it can't beat MP3 yet. You may need to convert M4A to MP3, if
your portable player doesn't support M4A, or if you simply find it easier to
maintain your collection in MP3.
We will consider how to convert M4A to MP3 using 4Musics Multiformat
Converter.
Step 1: Download and install the program.
Download 4Musics Multiformat Converter to a known location. Run setup and
follow its instructions to install the application.
Step 2: Start the program. Select files to convert.
Start 4Musics Multiformat Converter. Get acquainted with the program window:

Click "Add" button on the toolbar, then choose to open a file (you can also
open a whole folder, or a CD). A usual "Open" dialog pops up. Browse to your
files and select those that you want to convert to MP3.

Click "Open" to add them to conversion list.
Step 3: Choose output format and its settings. Convert.
The "Open" dialog disappears, and you can see the main window again.

Now there are two options. First, you can pick out a preset from the dropdown
menu in the lower part of the window (for example, "Convert to MP3") and proceed
directly to converting by clicking "Start".
However, the second option gives you more flexibility. In the "Output Format"
area, choose "MP3" as format, then set sample rate, bit rate, mode (1). Then set
a folder for output files (2).
Finally, click "Start" button on the toolbar (3).
The program starts to convert selected M4A to MP3. Depending on the number of
files in the list, this process may take some time. The trial version also waits
5 seconds between conversions, but you can remove this limitation by
registering.
