How do I watch TV on my computer?
Introduction.
To watch TV on your computer, you need a special piece of hardware - a
TV-tuner card. There are internal (inserted into a slot inside the PC-case) and
external TV-tuners, most of them are shipped with a remote control and some
basic (or pretty much advanced) software that allows you watching and recording
TV shows. But sometimes you may want to get more control over your TV-tuner
card, to improve quality of the picture, to look beyond that shipped software.
If you are looking for an appropriate and handy tool to enhance your TV
experience, I would recommend to test AVS TV Box.
Clear, colorful picture, easy player-like controls, ample features.
Step 1: Download and install the program.
Download AVS TV Box setup package to a folder on your computer.
Run the application and follow on-screen instructions to install it.
Step 2: Start the program. Scan for TV channels.
Launch AVS TV Box. The TV viewer will show you three windows: the main 'tv box', controls and channels.
If you haven't scanned for channels yet, the channel list will be empty. So,
let's perform a scan.
Click the cogwheel in the controls window (on the right, under the "Master"
button):

Alternatively you can right-click the TV-box and select "Settings" from the
context-menu:

The following window will appear:

On the "Device params" tab, choose your country from the dropdown menu,
select TV source (antenna or cable), set "Video Tuner" as video input. If you
have several sound cards, choose the one you intend to use with your TV tuner.
Usually you need to connect your TV-card to a sound card with a cable, so set
the jack you use for the "audio input" (myself, I use 'Line-In' - it's
the most
common input method).
Finally, click the "Start scan channels" button.
The program will perform a complete scan and detect all available channels.
Step 3: Adjust channels. Enjoy watching TV.
After the scan, the channel list will be populated. Now you can click a
channel's name to switch to it.

It is possible to move channels up and down the list, to rename them, to add
new channels by scanning. You can also fine tune a channel, if for some reason
the program fails to detect the best quality signal. Check "Channels" tab of the
settings window for advanced settings.
