How to convert YouTube to AVI?
Introduction.
AVI is a popular video format supported by many media devices. Almost every
modern mobile phone or portable player can play AVI. So what if you want to
save a YouTube video, which is not a problem at the time, and watch it on your
portable device? Here we will face a small problem: the downloaded YouTube video
clip will be in the flash video format (FLV) and will not allow to play itself easily on
mobile phones or players. So the obvious solution is to convert FLV to AVI,
which requires a converter program in addition to our YouTube downloader.
Here we will discuss a YouTube downloader capable of converting videos to AVI
format, Cucusoft YouTube Mate.
Step 1: Download and install the program.
Download Cucusoft YouTube Mate to a known location. Run setup and follow
on-screen instructions to install the application.
Step 2: Start the program. Add YouTube link.
Launch Cucusoft YouTube Mate. The main window will be shown:
As you can see, the interface is pretty intuitive.We need to
download a YouTube video and then convert it to AVI. So let's click the "Add"
button on the toolbar and select the "Add download job" option from the pop-up
menu to start:
A new window will emerge. Here you can enter a link to the video that
you'd like to download and convert. You can copy it from browser's address
field.
A bit lower, there are settings for saving downloaded files. By ticking the
"Auto name output file" option you allow the program to save the converted video
under its original name received from YouTube.
The next line specifies the output folder,
click the "Select" button and choose some folder for saving downloaded
files.
If you connect to the internet through a proxy server, you can adjust settings
for the proxy
in the lower part of the window.
Finally click "OK" to proceed.
The program will collect some information and display a window suggesting to
choose from various video quality options. Select an option according to your
need
and hit "Continue".
Step 3: Adjust converting settings. Convert YouTube to AVI.
The video is now in the conversion list, and we need to select an output
format. In the lower left corner, click on the "Profile" drop-down list and
select AVI from the "Common Video" category. If you would like to customize
advanced video format settings (bitrate, audio options, encoder), click the
"..." button on the right.
Right below, there's the "Output" field where you can specify a folder for
the converted video (the downloaded one remains in its folder).
Now we can preview the video clip using the playback controls on the toolbar.
When everything is ready, click the "Convert" - "Start conversion" button to
begin converting YouTube to AVI. The progress bar in the lower right corner will
indicate status. When it's filled, the converted video clip will be
available in the output folder.
The trial version of Cucusoft YouTube Mate can download YouTube videos, but
conversion is limited. If you like the program, you can register it and
