The Palette is a program that is able to enrich your experience in music
composing.
This piece of software uses composition theory and theory of harmony to
create 'theoretically correct' music. This doesn't necessarily mean that the
resulted melodies will be dull, or oversimplified. The program just takes your
imagination and gives it some pattern, something to fit in. If you lack serious
background in music, The Palette will teach you some secrets known only to
professionals. You can learn and joyfully create at the same time.
Seventeen lessons describe a process of music creation in detail. Each lesson
contains one or two demo-scripts that will help you to master the theory. After
studying them you will be able to think about music in the same way as you think
about speech. You will recognize words (motives), phrases, sentences, and so on.
The program is aware of twenty four methods of motive development, including
repetition, variation, sequence, new rhythm etc. It will suggest a theoretically
correct way to create a melody and arrangement. The result can be exported to a
MIDI file for using with other computer programs or musical instruments.
