VCDEasy is a user-friendly tool that helps creating video CDs and SVCDs. This software will make it possible to watch videos from a DV camcorder and pictures from a digital camera on any home DVD player, even if you do not have a DVD writer. VCD is a cheap way to create DVD-like discs at home.

You can write up to 80 minutes of video or 1960 pictures or about 6 hours of audio to one VCD (video compact disk). The tool also allows to create menus and chapters, basic slide shows.

Beginners can create video CDs in just a few mouse clicks after loading MPEG files into the program, with the VCD specifications. More advanced users will be able to configure all of the VCD features such as interactivity based playback control (time to wait after each video/picture/audio), chapters, menus support, CD-i support, and others. You can activate anti-flickering to improve display of your pictures on your TV, set a caption text for pictures, correct aspect ratio, select resolution, TV cropping, and more.

The VCD creator application provides an MPEG pictures encoder. To encode your audio files, you can use Audio2VCD from the same developer. Video files can be converted to MPEG with the help of TMPGEnc.

VCDEasy can not only burn VCDs but also outputs CD image files which can be burnt later with a third party software (Nero Burning Rom, CdrWin, etc.).

In some cases your home DVD player will play VCD 2.0 or SVCD 1.0 but you will need to activate its Playback Control support to view pictures and use navigation features.
